Little Portrait in Progress

I am loving all of the color in this little portrait. (Happily, my client agreed to allow me to share it here!) There is something about the cool hues of the subject's skin tones and sweater being in front of the warmer colors of the chair slats and wall behind that just make this piece sing (to me, anyway)! And then there are his vibrant eyes, lips, and... oh, that hair!

(There is a graphite pencil portrait of this boy in the works also. I'll post it soon.)

(6"x7.5", colored pencil on Pastelbord)

A really wonderful portrait, Liz. It captures the vitality and innocence one sees in a child.

Thanks, Gary. I'm still working on it, but I like to post things in progress, don't you? Besides possibly being of interest to others, it sometimes really helps me to see what to do next, or what to leave alone!

Thanks, Chantell and Debbi!
I'm trying to hang on to those things as I continue to refine... it's a struggle. Wish me luck!

What a nice little portrait. And you are right, the colors sing together. You can almost feel how he is about to jump off the chair and go to investigate what he has been looking at. Your background is just perfect to set all the rest off.

This is an absolutely lovely portrait. It conveys the saucy confidence of youth!
